One done...9 to go......

The weather today is the pits....wet and dark and dreary. Not the greatest conditions for picture taking.

Here are some pictures of my mousey friend to show you how I'm doing with my UFO....

I think she's done:)

I gave her a hat. Not an easy chore with those big ears in the way:)

And, I gave her some pantaloons and some shoes with little ribbon roses......

It was hard to get a good picture as every time I tried to get closer my shadow showed...drat.

She has an underskirt of white with some Broderie Anglaise trim and an over skirt of some very fine semi sheer burgundy dot fabric.

She's quite cuddly and would look lovely sitting on a chair or a bed or anywhere really:)

Take care.

Beans, beans.......

Something new to play with....... for a future make-it.

Isn't it strange. These three mice were made from the same pattern but three different colours of felt? All different shapes and heights as a result:)

Hmm..........I think one of them needs to cut down on the cheese.

Take care.

Carrying on.......

Not much is happening here today. The snow has finally melted in the back yard but the ground is too wet and mushy to walk on and I saw my first robin yesterday. So things are looking up:) The sun is shining but it's a bit nippy temperature wise.

I got my hair cut this morning. I wear it short...wash and wear. I was shocked at how much hair was on the ground when the stylist had finished. Where did it all come from...eeek. I feel much lighter now.

We have a new piece of deco in the sewing room.....

Inside there is a first aid kit......with thingies for when I do myself an injury.
I sorted some of my stuff yesterday and found some fabric that I bought at least 15 years ago. It was a warehouse sale for a company that was closing down. It was a bargain at 3 yards for $1.00 so naturally I had to get 3 yards. The pattern is called Garden Market.
I was going to make some aprons but obviously I didn't:) The pic doesn't show the colour very well. It's really much nicer and brighter.

I do have something in mind for it.

While I was looking for ideas I found a blog called "A Spoonful of Sugar" which had a tutorial for a fabric basket....here. I thought it was a great idea and so easy to make......reversible, washable and easy to store away.

As I said, not much happening....:)

Take care.

Where's me hands?

See that pile of fabric there......I got that yesterday from Jessica of Sunny Tuesday. She gave it to me because I gave her this. Pretty good trade I think. Thank you Jessica:)

Go here and vote for Licorice Allsorts......please and thank you:)

Take care.

Making a mess.....

When I'm making something new for the first time I get so involved in the process that I tend to make a mess on my worktable. Sometimes it gets mountainous before I even notice......but I know where everything is because I put it there. Usually I stop and clean it all up only to start again.

Mousie does not approve of this mess. As you can see here, her very disapproving presence makes me cleanup.......

......sorta:)

I'm on head number four.....still working on it:)

Take care.

100 Happy Days Challenge.....day 2

My happy thing today is mice designed by  Flowermouse Designs.....I love them....aren't they neat?......you must have figured out by now that I like mice:)

The designer is Lone, a Norwegian artist. She uses various materials to make her mice and I think they are so unique.

Her mice can be found at....http://flowermouse.blogspot.com/

(Sorry I haven't figured out how to do the hyperlink thingy yet...oh well. I'm working on it.)

Have a good day:)

Snow...snow...snow.

I looked out the back window this morning and it was very beautiful. It had snowed again last night and the snow was in perfectly smooth undulating hillocks of fluffiness...no little animal footprints yet. The sun light coming through the trees was at a perfect angle and the snow sparkled here and there....it was lovely and ephemeral..... but, I would rather be seeing squishy spring-rain soaked green grass....or even a muddy weed or two.

Yesterday on Groundhog's Day, 3 out of 4 groundhogs did not see their shadow which means that spring is only 6 weeks away.......or, we have 6 weeks left of winter depending on your point of view. I prefer to think spring is almost here.

I love the month of March for some reason. A new beginning...change...nature starts gearing up...I wake up. After a few months of winter hibernation, I'm more inclined to leave my "nest" and venture forth. On a bright sunny March day I can actually sit out on my back porch. The brick wall absorbs the heat and suitably clothed you can sit and enjoy the heat and sun in a little isolated island of warmth...perhaps drinking a nice cup of tea...ahhh:) It's amazing how mentally and emotionally stimulating that is.

On another topic....I have noticed that there are quite a lot of blogs that have free giveaways at certain milestones in their bloggy life. So. I had a think about that and decided I too will have a giveaway. My milestone....I will if I can get 25 followers...I have 3  7 10 15 now :)

Hmmmm.....who can I blackmail, bribe ask to join? It may take some time I think.

Well, I'm off to get some sewing done...talk to you later.

p.s. You may have noticed...all three of you wonderful people who visit sometimes...that my blog has been updated again. Last night I discovered how to change the existing new blogger templates back to an older version. As you can see it has made the visual presentation much more cleaner...I like it better.

Another day...

So the mice are getting there although my target for Friday may be too optimistic. I've been following the One World One Heart blog event....I think I've looked at about 275 sites and I just looked at the current total of participating blogs and it's now 642. I think I'll give it up for now...I still have until February 16th/17th to check them all out but if they add any more sites...eeek.

So here are some of the mice....almost there.

I don't know if I like the fit of the red dress...hmmm.

For the bride challenge I thought I'd get out a very old pattern and be nostalgic. It's a Simplicity pattern for Barbie that was published about 1961/62. I did some research on the pattern today out of curiosity. It was 0.50 cents when it was first printed and I found someone who has it listed for sale now for $25.00.

You can see by the picture that the styles were very simple. My mum made the long dress (the bride's dress) for my Barbie doll out of scraps of teal peau de soie left over from a dress she made for my Aunt Mary. My aunt was going to some big event at the Royal York in Toronto.

I loved that Barbie dress...it had a nice flourish at the back. Anyway I have a bit of satin left over from my wedding dress...yes my mum made that too:) I have just enough and with a bit of trim it will be very nice I think.

Sorry about the quality of the pic. I took it with the light from my desk lamp. It's a very dark day here. We are expecting a huge snow storm tonight so tomorrow should be a fun day digging out. It sounds like it might be a bad one. They have started broadcasting severe storm warnings on the radio. They are calling for up to 40cm for some areas... hopefully not on my street.

I thought you might like to see some of my other mice. I really like making mice for some reason.

They look like they are having a little chit chat....they've been to market and have their baskets full. I wonder if they like my idea about the Barbie dress?

Talk to ya later:)
