Christmas stars.......

Someone posted this video on one of the FB groups I belong to. Christmas stars for your tree.

 

Cross Stitch Christmas.....

I've been doing some Christmas cross stitch. Both these patterns are designs by Pamela Kellogg of Kittyandme on Etsy. I love her work.

This one is Crazy Trees ....

.... and this one is Crazy Holly Leaves.

They are for perforated paper but I opted to use Aida cloth. On paper they would make ornaments but also very unique Christmas cards. 

I didn't have all the colours she listed in her directions for a couple of the designs and since I have a lot of embroidery thread I substituted colours.  There is a site I use called Thread Bare that has a tool for matching to the closest DMC colour. 

I reinforced the cut edges by painting them... on the back edge...with Liquitex clear gesso as I just happened to have some and it worked great. They will not fray ever. To finish I added a ribbon then used white felt on the back to hide all the stitching.

2020...........Is it over yet?

Christmas 2020 will not be forgotten......Al fresco gift giving.

I didn't get to see my grandkids in person only a few pictures. Too much of a health risk for me. 

On a more positive note :)

I noticed that "Jenny of ELEFANTZ" is starting a free block of the month for 2021 called "Posies".  Not too complicated. A little bit of applique and little bit of embroidery. I might give it a go but with a different colour scheme I think. Not a fan of pink.

More Monthly Makes for November...

Since today is the last day in November I thought I'd squeak in a few more Monthly Makes. I made a couple more Christmas tree ornaments.

My version of a Blue Jay...

 and, a Chickadee...sorta...

After struggling to make patterns for the felt birds I've made so far, I then discovered Downeast Thunder Farms.

Ah well....I enjoyed the challenge but sometimes it's nice when someone does the work for you:)

I borrowed the idea for a Christmas Dove from Downeast Thunder Farm. I changed the pattern a bit by making the back wing a separate piece. Susan has a ton of bird patterns and all of them are so simple to make:)

Gingermelon Dolls has posted a free Santa pattern on her blog that is adorable....I'm definitely going to make some.

WIP Wednesday.....

I decided to make some Christmas ornaments that are kid friendly. My granddaughter will be 2 1/2 years old this Christmas and is at that stage when she has to touch and look at everything. Last year all the Christmas trees in the family had bare branches at the bottom.......the decorations were placed up high and away from little hands.

This year I'm putting decorations at the bottom that she can touch.

I found this really adorable decoration on Pinterest from a blog called....Flamingo Toes ....a mug of cocoa with two little marshmellows floating on top......you will find the pattern and the tutorial to make it at that site.

She's very interested in watching birds at a feeder she made at playschool so I thought an English Robin would be very cute too.....I love when I get cards from Britain with those cute robins on them.

I'm not much of an artist so I looked for a simple picture that I could use as a template and I found one at rspb.org.

I did learn a few lessons making this.......the tail was too skinny so I had to reenforce it with a tiny bit of armature wire.

I glued the wing on upside down but she won't know.....sshhh:)

 Then I made a little red winter coat .....

Of course I had to make some elf's shoes from a pattern designed by Jenny at Allsorts. This is an old pattern that I've made before but this time I printed them at a much smaller size......1/4 of the original pattern size.

I still have a ton of felt so I think it'll keep me busy for a wee while. I found a few more free felt ornament patterns on the internet and once I've made some I'll post some pictures.

Monthly Make It Challenge 2012

I've signed up for the 2012 Monthly Make It Challenge over at The Felt Fairy . I enjoyed doing it last year because it reminded me to keep crafting and to make at least one thing every month.

My December 2011 make are felt Christmas decorations from a kit that I received as part of a give away from earlier in the year. I have never made up a kit like this before and it was lots of fun. Sorry about the pictures. It's very dark here today.....hopefully it won't snow.

Wrapping Paper Topiaries......

This is for all of us who have tons of wrapping paper that is not quite the right size for that giftie........or for people like me who use gift bags and now have tons of wrapping paper not being used:)
