My Spring Block......

I went with bright greens and yellows as they just seemed to make me think of spring.....bright sunshine and new green growth.

The smaller sized block was much easier to deal with as the embellishments were just little snippets instead of major productions:)

At first I got out all my yellow and green trims and beads but then I realized that it was all wrong and very boring. I had some pretty variegated pinky peachy DMC embroidery thread that I won from So September in October 2012. I made some little "flowers" with some iffy (don't look too close) French knots and that was it. Away I went:)

By the way, if you want a few ideas on how to couch rick rack and ribbon, Corinne at So September has just done two tutorials recently that you might find interesting.....here and here.

I made a cardboard window frame of sorts so you can see what it will look like once I bind it. I stole this idea from my buddy Vee over at The "Bearister" Bookcase. She made one so she could pick out areas on her white work for her pin pillows. I thought it was a brilliant idea:)

I have no idea how to describe my crazy quilting style...it's different from what I see in Bloggerland. I haven't learned the "rools" yet.

Lean to the left to view:)

Forget me whats.

The flowers are all different...don't look

I really really REALLY need to practice some embroidery stitches. I've been doing cross stitch so much that I've gotten out of the way of doing other stitching.

The next block is Summer.....sun, bright colours, buzzing bees...no snow...no freezing temps...heat:)

Asian lilies in my garden... summer 2013.

I'll leave you with that image.

Take care:)

  11. The first rule of crazy quilting, is that there are none! You are developing your own style...unique to you and that's as it should be. Looks pretty excellent to me - and a definite reminder of elusive spring!

  12. LOVE your Spring square Mary Ann, so beautiful and definitely makes me think Spring. Thanks also for the links to So September's tutorials, never would have thought to combine the trims with the embroidery stitches like that! Can't wait to see Summer and keep on doing what you're doing, regardless of the 'rools' because your square is wonderful!

  13. It works great for viewing the shape you intend to end up with isn't it? .... I think for my next egg though...I want to make a fatter one.... it ended up a bit more elongated than I thought it would be... and, somehow I must try to stay on the lines with the silly machine...I'm terrible at it.... machines are just not my bag at all!! I'm hopeless!

  15. Oh, this is so pretty MaryAnn! You don't need to learn any 'rools' - looks to me like you're doing just fine without them. I love your style - it's got all the elements of crazy quilting that I like, but it doesn't feel cluttered and overwhelming to look at. I love it! Can't wait to see your summer block - and I hope working on these puts you in a warm state of mind ;)

If you leave a comment and I don't respond it's because I didn't get an email notice. It could be because you are a "no reply" blogger. Here is a way to fix that......http://morefromyourblog.com/no-reply-blogger-how-to-fix-this/
