Bamboo Oracle Week One......

I have never taken an on-line class from The Doll Street Dreamers before so I wasn't sure what to expect. When I purchased my class I received a confirmation and a link to a Yahoo Group that belongs to the teacher.....Colleen Babcock.  I then did the usual steps to become a member of the site. When you join most Yahoo groups you are not immediately a member. There is an administrator/owner of the group who gives you access.

The group has a forum so that you can post questions to and get answers from the teacher. You can share ideas and problems with each other and generally have fun. You can also set up your own album for pictures to show your progress, post pictures of what you need help with and finally post your finished doll. It's just like any class.......the more you participate the more you get out of the class.

So, that done all I needed to do was wait until today when the class opened and sure enough I received a notice from the Group admin that this week's lesson had been posted. Along with that was the pattern pieces and the class supply list.

Week One: The Head........eeeek!

This is going to a very stressful week...hee hee.  Twenty-four pages of instruction!!!!! The head has three pieces to it and the construction is a bit fidley so I'm sure I will be making several until I'm satisfied that I have it right. The face has a bit of soft sculpture, very dramatic makeup, separate eyelids that you attach and eyelashes too. Oh boy....I promise not to swear......... much.

I need some supplies that I don't have so a shopping trip is needed........:)

Stay tuned.

  1. I took the Harpy class online Mary Ann....loved it.... and like you say... tons of info in our class as well... if we asked questions...Judy Skeel answered them as soon as she could and we learned a lot. I never did go on to complete mine...as I got the head done and... I can't remember what happened. But..it was something...so I still have my great head...to use sometime.... lots of techniques that were new to me.... and I love how she turned out. Looking forward to your project...now...I'm off to check out what, or who, it is....

  4. Mary Ane, Than Yu so much for stopping on by earlier to view the latest over at PPS. And your positive feedback is always a nice bonus.
Have you thought to post what you're doing in your new doll class, week by week, here at this blog?
It might be fun and get everybody's juices flowing for more creative activity!
    :)

P.S. I happen to believe very strongly that these mice were made to travel, but you may want to limit your shipping arena. I've heard this might be best when one is first going into any business online.
    Just a thought.
    Have fun!

If you leave a comment and I don't respond it's because I didn't get an email notice. It could be because you are a "no reply" blogger. Here is a way to fix that......http://morefromyourblog.com/no-reply-blogger-how-to-fix-this/
