WIP.....

I have done all the seam treatments except one on my block for Kathy Shaw's class on Crazy Quilting. The final seam will have ribbon flowers and leaves which we will get "how to" info on hopefully soon.

It's snowing here today so no light for a decent picture.

I'm supposed to add lace motifs now to a few spots here and there but as yet I haven't done that step. I haven't got any lace motifs....ha ha. I couldn't find any that I liked in the right size. I checked out some sites on line but the cost for shipping three or four little lace thingies was twice the actual cost of them. I'm too cheap:)

So I guess I'll have to go with a plan "B".

After we do the sik ribbon stuff we will be doing beading and adding some charms. I have a few that I might use. Then again maybe not. I like the dragonfly but not in silver so much.

So that's where I am with this block.

On my other seasonal wall hanging crazy quilt project I had a rethink about the fabrics I was using for Summer. Not enough variety in colour and that butterfly bit had to go. What was I thinking? So I'm making a new block which I will show you soon:)

I'll be back soon.

I'm linking up today with Needlework Tuesday.

I'm also joining up with the Needle & Thread Network as I  haven't done so in a while. I'm not a traditional quilter but I figure when I do participate at TN&TN  it's to bring something different into the mix whether it's about my doll making or now my new venture into crazy quilting.

Take care:)

  1. LOVE how it is coming together! Your embroidery is beautiful. So do you just need a piece of lace?? Can't you just go to the fabric store and buy a bit??

  2. I love all your crazy quilting. Is it possible to join all the blocks together for a bed quilt? In a cat free bedroom of course and if such a room ever exists.

  3. Your block is looking great!! Just a couple of wee hints that might work...if you don't care for the silver on the charms head for the dollar store and get some cheap nailpolish in a colour(s) you like and paint them...works like a (ahem) charm. And for the lace bits...do you have a thrift store nearby? Quite often they have doilies and such for sale that you can cut up to get lace motifs. Don't know if any of that will help, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

  4. your block for Kathy's class looks great. I'm looking forward to starting the embroidery but need to re-read the instructions a few more times. I ordered the silk ribbon, but haven't found lace bits either yet. One more local store to try and I'm sure they have some, but not sure about the size.
Thanks for linking up with Needlework Tuesday.

  7. Looking good Mary Ann! If you don't like the color of the silver butterfly, try adding some Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink to color it maybe? Hope the snow has stopped for you and that the sun is peeking out.

  10. very nice. Can you change the colour of the charm? Tim Holtz might have a product that could work. Google knows if I don't! ;)

If you leave a comment and I don't respond it's because I didn't get an email notice. It could be because you are a "no reply" blogger. Here is a way to fix that......http://morefromyourblog.com/no-reply-blogger-how-to-fix-this/
