The on going saga......and Merry Christmas

I haven't posted for awhile as I've been busy doing nothing in particular sewing wise.

We are putting our house on the market in the spring. The real estate agents are still banging on the door with potential buyers but they will just have to wait til we are ready :)

Down sizing after living in the same house for 40 plus years is a bit overwhelming. What to keep...what to give away...what to toss out.

We knew that we wanted to move for various reasons. We were a bit stressed because the timing of selling the house and finding a new place to buy. I can't tell you how many houses/condos I have viewed online. I have a very patient real estate agent :) We aren't even sure what we want. A condo or a house. We just know that we want to move closer to the rest of our family.

After a lot of thought and discussion we made a decision. We are in the process of moving in January to an apartment that is in the area we eventually want to live. Now we can take our time looking for a new place. Also it's a test run to see if condo living is for us.

We are about 5 minutes from the retirement residence that my brother lives in. It will be nice to see him more often and give him help when he needs it. Like tech support for his computer :)

And, more important than that we will will be about 10 minutes if even that from my grandkids.

Anyway it will be a new adventure for sure.

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!!!!... and I'll talk to you in the New Year 2020 !!!!!

Take care:)

  1. I don't envy you the sorting process after having lived in one place for so long. We did that process before we moved into this apartment and it was at times very overwhelming. Now we're very glad we made the move and enjoy the lifestyle. The only thing we miss is having a garage in the wintertime! Have a wonderful (and hopefully relaxing) Christmas.

    1. Thank you:) Once we made the decision the stress went away. There is a certain amount of catharsis in that. Also you get to a certain time in life when you say why do I have all this stuff anyway.

  4. Merry Christmas Mary Ann and good luck with the move. I sold my house 6 months ago and moved into a lovely condo (called a unit here) to be closer to family, I love my unit and no regrets at all. Though I did not have 40 yrs of stuff to sort out only my huge royal collection.

  5. Good luck with the downsizing. I'm lucky. I don't have to do that. My family that live in Toronto all live within walking distance and we see all of our grandchildren regularly. FaceTime helps with the ones in BC and the UK.

  6. It is hard work to start digging in and sorting, but it will be worth it. We did a lot of that when we renovated our kitchen last year. It's amazing what you keep over the years! You will feel so "light" after it is done...keeping only the things that you really need now.

    Happy packing!

    1. It's good feeling actually. I will have been retired 11 years on December 31st this year and I need a change. I'm quite looking forward to shaking up the old lifestyle.

  7. Wishing you much happiness in your new adventure. Time will tell what you really want once you're settled and have time to think it over without the stress of moving. If there's no rush, take a break and enjoy just being... ;o) All the best for the New Year ahead. Many creative adventures and more time to sew.

If you leave a comment and I don't respond it's because I didn't get an email notice. It could be because you are a "no reply" blogger. Here is a way to fix that......http://morefromyourblog.com/no-reply-blogger-how-to-fix-this/
